As the holiday season approaches, there’s an undeniable excitement in the air. Students and mentors are returning home, reuniting with family and friends, and reflecting on the year that has passed. But beyond personal reflection, this time of year also serves as a reminder of the importance of community—of coming together, celebrating shared successes, and uplifting one another for the journey ahead.

In that spirit, Porte is hosting a Holiday Get-Together at Chinatown Barbecue, bringing together mentees, mentors, clients, strategic partners, and VIPs for an evening of connection, celebration, and impact. More than just a social gathering, this event is designed to highlight the incredible work being done by our students, foster meaningful conversations between mentors and mentees, and reinforce the core values of community engagement and social impact that drive Porte forward.

Why Chinatown Barbecue? A Space for Heritage and Impact

Chinatown Barbecue, located in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown, was chosen intentionally. The venue not only offers a warm and intimate setting for shared meals and conversation but also reflects a broader commitment to cultural heritage and social responsibility—themes that are central to many of Porte’s student-led initiatives. By hosting the event here, we connect our work with the rich history of Chinatown, a place shaped by resilience, community, and shared identity.

This event isn’t just about gathering over food (although the family-style buffet catered by Chinatown Barbecue will certainly be a highlight). To ensure an engaging and dynamic experience, students will be hosting interactive stations, each highlighting impact-driven initiatives that have taken shape within the Porte community.
